1880’s – 1910’s Mauchline Ware Diamond Shaped Pin Disk and Sewing Egg

Measures:  Pin Disk – 2.75” long.  Sewing Egg – 3” long

The pin disk has a photo of “Bunker Hill Monument“. The velvet does have wear. I believe it was once a maroon but has faded with time. 

The sewing egg has a photo of “Court Square, Worcester, Mass.” This egg would have once included a sewing kit with thread and perhaps a thimble. This has gone missing over the years, but the egg is still a nice decorative piece or could be used as a holiday ornament.

Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland.  It is made of sycamore and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations.  It was produced from the mid 1800’s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.
