1800’s Carved Bone Needle Case

Measures:  4” long

This needle case is exquisitely carved.  And (I think) the best part is the wear pattern on the cover – you can see it was opened and closed many times over the years.  The carving here is worn nearly smooth but is still quite visible.  There are carved holes in the top for hanging on a chatelaine.  The top is threaded and works nicely.  There are 4 cracks in the top but this doesn’t seem to be a bother to the structure, I have pictured this.  This was a well-used, well loved sewing companion!
