Thimble, Sterling Silver, Size 8, Stern Bros.

Stern Bros. & Co., New York, NY was founded in 1868 by Nathan Stern in Philadelphia, PA.  Within a few years they expanded and moved operations to New York.  The company ceased operating in 1933 due to the stock market crash of 1929.  The thimble is hallmarked on the band with a “fouled anchor”, a symbol used 1890-1908.  There is detailed, deep engraving around the band.  There are no punctures, and it is not out of round.
