Mid 1800’s Photo Pin, Sweetheart Pin, Mourning Pin

This is a very petite sweetheart pin!  It is very well made and clean, appears to be set in gold and the tiny glass is beveled.  The pin still works fine.  The subject is handsome and worthy of gracing a blouse, scarf or sweater! I believe this is a Civil War Era photo, a keepsake for his sweetheart, wife, or mother.  The other possibility is that it is a mourning pin, to keep him close in memory.  The piece is without damage and a fine example of the care taken with photos, jewelry and memories.
