Lovely antique beaded evening purse dating to the late Victorian or early Edwardian period (circa 1895–1910). Made of deep midnight blue velvet with gold and silver glass beadwork in an elegant Art Nouveau pattern. Finished with detailed looped beaded fringe and metal frame with decorative stamped detail.
It measures 6.5"x6".
This piece has condition issues consistent with age and use:
The metal frame is intact but has separated (shown).
One beaded tassel is still attached, the second is included but detached.
A small, beaded fabric piece is also included, possibly part of a missing change purse or interior panel.
Interior silk lining is deteriorated, as typical for the era.
Velvet shows scattered wear, and the frame has patina and age darkening.
Despite this, the exterior beads and fringe are mostly intact, and the clasp mechanism still works.
Sold as-is for restoration, display, or study. A gorgeous example of turn-of-the-century accessory design.
