1920’s Holdfast Baby Plate, Taylor Smith and Taylor

Measures:  2” deep, 8” wide

This is a HEAVY dish!  Manufactured by the Taylor Smith and Taylor Company of Chester, West Virgina.  The company was founded in 1900.  The dish features a lamb reading a book to a little girl in the center, there is a little boy and a lamb standing on a sphere on the sides of the dish.  I believe the dish could be made of ironstone due to its weight.  There are signs of use and wear on the dish but no chips or cracks.  The spots on the bottom and inside the dish are probably from heat, mom sitting it on the wood range top to warm a meal.  Great for nursery decoration or a baby shower.  This dish held many a meal for many children!
